The architecture of the mosque is a symphony of artistic and architectural styles. The most remarkable features include four spires or minarets of various geometric shapes; the first one is a square section that is greatly influenced by the Andalusian and Moroccan styles, as it has artfully intertwined decorative elements such as textured mosaic tiles on its surface. The second spire has an octagonal shape, with intricate Mameluke designs, like true Persian minarets. The third spire is cylindrical in shape and exemplifies the Ottoman phase that was dominating Cairo once upon a time.
